About MeA seasoned DRE, Penny Giunta is well-known throughout the Joliet Diocese for her impact on family faith formation. In 2005, her religious education program entitled “Family Centered Faith Formation” won the NCEA’s national Mustard Seed Award for innovatively including parents in every aspect of their children’s formation. Since that time, she has adapted the method to the needs of various parishes and created numerous family workshops to supplement conventional programs. Her published works include “Hands-On Gospel”, “Mass Transit Cards”, and most recently “A Visit with Grandma – a family activity for understanding the Mass”. She was also on the editorial team for Matthew Kelly’s Confirmation program, “Decision Point”, and was trained to use puppetry in education through a grant from the diocese.
PARTNERS FOR FAITH is her newest venture, aimed at partnering with DRE’s to increase parental involvement in their programs. She has created a variety of parent-only and parent-child workshops that she can tailor to the specific needs of a parish and guide Catechists to implement the plans. She can also act as a consultant to design new interactive experiences that will keep families engaged while learning together.
